Seventh Bank of Canada

Redesign of Toronto's Seventh Post Office into a bank. A bank (financial institution), provides an accessible service with retail locations that offer face to face, human interaction services for customers. Included in the program are smaller offices that provide key services that are not available online. Banks are an integral part of everyday life for individuals, businesses, and the economy as a whole, providing essential financial services, safety, convenience, and support for financial well-being.

Concept

Inspired by the stately columns that grace the façade, seamlessly integrated them into the interior space, not just as decorative features but as functional elements that enhance both efficiency and air quality. By incorporating air filters into the columns, we have transformed them into vital components of the building's environmental infrastructure. This innovative approach not only ensures optimal air quality throughout the space but also maximizes efficiency by utilizing existing structural elements in a novel and sustainable manner. The integration of air filters into the columns serves as a spatial strategy to promote connectivity and continuity between the bank's multiple floors. As employees and clients move between levels, they are enveloped in a cohesive atmosphere of clean, fresh air, fostering a sense of well-being and productivity.

Charettes

Moments throughout the bank that demonstrate the integration of safe air quality through circulation, personal hygiene, devices, spatial strategies, ventilation and air purifiers.
